How does marginstory make money?
We're an independent price-comparison service and earn money through affiliate commissions. When you click through to a retailer from our Site and complete a purchase, that retailer pays us a small commission from their margin. The price you pay is unchanged, and commission has no influence on the order in which offers are listed.
Are the prices shown always up to date?
Prices and stock status are refreshed multiple times per day from our retail partners' product feeds. Online prices can still change between updates, so we recommend confirming the final price on the retailer's checkout page before completing your order. The retailer's displayed price is always authoritative.
How is the comparison ranked?
For every product, offers are sorted strictly by total price (item + delivery cost), cheapest first. Affiliate commission rate has zero weight. The “Best price” badge always goes to the actual cheapest offer; the “Recommended” badge highlights retailers that combine a competitive price with strong reliability indicators (rating, delivery, return policy).
Do you physically test the products?
No. We're a price-comparison service, not a product-testing lab. Our descriptions are based on manufacturer specs, retailer feed data, and aggregated customer reviews. Where we offer guidance, it's clearly framed as opinion rather than a verified test result.
Where do the star ratings come from?
Star ratings on product pages aggregate publicly available customer reviews from our retail partners. We don't generate editorial ratings or invent star counts. The number in brackets shows how many verified-purchase reviews were used in the aggregate.
Are there any hidden costs or fees for me?
No. Using marginstory is completely free. No registration, no membership, no hidden costs. You only pay the price the retailer charges at checkout β and that price is unaffected by our affiliate relationship with the retailer.
How do I cancel an order or get a refund?
Because we don't sell products directly, returns, cancellations and refunds are handled by the retailer you purchased from. UK consumers retain their statutory 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 for most online purchases. Contact details for the retailer will be on your order confirmation email.
Is my data safe with you?
We comply with the UK GDPR. We don't require registration, we don't track your individual browsing, and we don't sell data to third parties. How often are new products added?
We import new products regularly from our partners' catalogues β typically several hundred per month across all categories. If a specific product you're looking for is missing, get in touch via the Contact page and we'll consider adding it.
